Two newly constructed multi-family buildings occupy the former site of a deteriorated single family home/office in the North Commons area of Lawrence, Massachusetts. Buildings are designed to complement the existing corniced architecture of Newbury Street, and the preservation of a prominent oak tree at the entrance to the site signifies the gateway to the revitalized community neighborhood.

With a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom units, the buildings offer affordable homeownership opportunities for families. All units meet Energy Star standards, with generously sized low-E windows and high efficiency heating systems designed to keep utility bills and maintenance low. The flat roof holds ten individual photovoltaic systems, developed with Energy Star Homes to provide a significant portion of residents’ electric needs.

Internal to the site are twenty-one parking spots, allowing the continuation of a sympathetic and active streetscape at the perimeter. These ten units are the first phase of development planned by Lawrence Community Works for this site, with additional rental housing and LCW’s own offices to follow.
